65 Years in Surgery: A Memoir
Dr. Robert Barlett (aka Bob), in addition to being a renowned physician, educator and researcher was also a lover of music, musician, and composer; an author; a student of literature; a historian; a sailor; a hockey player; a husband and father; and much more.
Many could tell touching stories from each facet of his life. He was also a class storyteller. Many of us had the privilege of being entertained not only by the stories themselves, but by Bob’s presentation which featured falsetto voices, was punctuated by sound effects, and ended with his infectious chuckle. Bob specifically related and requested these stories for his memoirs.
But his stories were not just entertainment – they were lessons and glimpses into history and into life. His stories are timeless and should continue to be told. With this in mind, we encouraged Bob to record his memoirs.
These are Bob’s stories.
